    FAQ

The Filipino American Student Association (FASA) is a student organization at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor whose mission is to celebrate and spread awareness about the heritage and experiences of Filipinx and Filipinx Americans. Through our three main pillars of culture, community, and outreach, we strive to create a welcoming environment where members can explore the Filipinx American culture, build lasting friendships, and share their cultural identity with the greater community.

Submit this new member interest form to get on our contact list and sign up to receive our newsletter. Released on a weekly basis throughout the school year, the FASA newsletter holds all details for upcoming events and opportunities to get involved! Event details can also be found on FASA’s official Facebook page.

No, FASA events welcome everyone who wishes to attend! However, some events that require an entry fee may offer official members a discounted entry price. Even so, most of our events are free and open to the public. NOTE: Eligibility to attend external events with FASA may depend on your membership status.

While attendance at our events is open to the general community, you can become an official FASA member by paying yearly membership due of $15. Benefits of paid membership include discounted admissions to FASA events, discounts at participating Ann Arbor businesses, and eligibility to participate in member-specific FASA activities such as performances and external events. Make sure to fill out both the new member interest form and the paid membership form if interested!

No, our organization holds members ranging from first-years to graduate students. Many Filipinx faculty members at the University of Michigan also choose to support FASA in various ways. With an ever-growing community, FASA remains a space for people of all years to connect and celebrate the Filipinx culture.

Philippine Culture Night is an annual celebration of Filipinx heritage through a variety of performances, including traditional and modern dances, speeches and spoken word, and live music. This event takes on a new perspective of the Filipinx and Filipinx American experience every year. All proceeds go towards a charity of FASA’s choosing.
